Jack
Preston is a SEAL who is finally taking a week vacation in Texas to be with his
parent and brother when he is called in by the Midnight Delta SEAL unit to help
protect a family whom are being targeted by a drug lord. Jack has been charged
with protecting Elsbeth Hildago who is now has to use the name Beth Ochoa. Jack
hopes that being around his family will help her come out of her shell and
start living again and even possibly come to have feelings for him as he has
for her.
Beth
has lived through the most horrific experience and is now afraid of touch and especially
men, but Beth realizes that Jack is different and will keep her from harm and
protect her with his life. But Beth is hiding more horrific secrets, protecting
those that she loves from knowing the abuse that she has suffered. Can she let
the truth set her free so she is able to have everything she ever wanted with
Jack, the only man that she has ever loved?
But
danger has manage to find her in her safe hideout and so they are forced to go
back to California, but now that makes Beth an easy target, and she is
kidnapped Jack goes out of his mind and does everything he can get her back for
she is his whole life…but will he make it in time to save her!?
I will
have to say from the beginning that I wish I had read Midnight Delta books 1
and 2 before I read this one. Now don’t get me wrong, you can definitely read
Her Adoring SEAL as a stand-alone, but I think that you are taking away from
the overall plot and there were a couple of references that I did not
understand. But other than that I really loved Beth and Jack and I’m very firm
in my dislike of Beth’s father. I did find the plot to be a little fast in
places and slow in others, which frustrated me a little as I felt like I missed
out, but there were few and far between.
Overall
I found Her Adoring SEAL a thrilling read that kept me gripped, which is why I
gave it 4 stars.
They were going to kill her. Jack gripped his gun as he looked into the storage room. Griff was across the square in the bell tower, and Jack had just gotten word he found three of the other doctors and could take down their captors. Aiden and Dex were on other floors of the hospital looking for hostages and tangos. Their lieutenant was outside ready to give the command to Aiden to start taking out the targets. That left him in the basement to find this horror.
The woman was on her knees, her shirt torn, breasts spilling out, and a face covered in blood and bruises. She had one arm wrapped around a man’s hips like a lover, her cheek pressed against his thigh, and her blonde hair tangled with his pubic hair. That’s where the farce ended. The tip of the knife she held was pressed against his balls, and Jack could see a trickle of blood.
“Come closer and I will cut off his cock,” she said in raspy Spanish.
“Kill her.” The man commanded to the three other men in the room.
“Sir, the bullet could hit you.”
“You’re two feet away. You can’t shoot straight? Kill the bitch!”
The woman flinched, and the knife bit into the man’s tender flesh. He yowled.
“Kill her now, she’s cutting me.”
“You keep talking and threatening me and you’ll never father a child. Tell them to back off.”
Jack admired her bravery, but what did she think she was going to accomplish? How in the hell did she think she was going to get out of this mess?
