He's everything she fears…and everything she wants
Mercenary
by name and by nature, Carson is a Lakota Sioux who stays to himself
and never keeps women around long enough for anything emotional to
develop. But working with his friend Cash Grier on a complex murder
investigation provides Carson with another kind of fun—shocking Cash's
sweet but traditional secretary, Carlie Blair, with tales of his latest
conquests.
Then Carlie lands in deep trouble. She saw something
she shouldn't have, and now the face of a criminal is stored permanently
in her photographic memory…and Carlie is the key piece of evidence that
could implicate a popular politician in the murder case.
Her
only protection is Carson—the man she once despised. But when she learns
that Carson is more than just a tough guy, Carlie realizes she's
endangered herself further. Because now her only chance to live means
losing her heart to the most dangerous kind of man….
So I have been waiting for Carson's story for what feels
like forever! But it is finally here and I cannot wait to tell you about it.
Carlie Blair is the ultimate church mouse, who loves her
father Rev. Blair and honors her mother, whom had passed away. Many people
think that Carlie is old fashioned and needs to get out and become more modern
and not just play video games. But Carlie is not just sweetness and light, she
has a sassy side when she is at her desk as the receptionist for Sheriff Cash
Greer. But her most sassy comes out when she is around Carson, the enigmatic
mercenary whom likes to take pot shots at Carlie. But when Carlie see's
something she shouldn't and is thrust into danger Carson rushes to free her,
which leaves her more confused than ever.
Carson has a history filled with pain, heartbreak and
violence, so now he has switched off all his emotions, and only enters into
relationships with experienced women who know that he is not the settling down
type. But Carlie gets under his skin and she makes him feel dirty and he ends
up verbally striking out at her, but then he pushes it to far and Carlie ends
up in hospital. That is a wake up call for Carson and he realizes that he has
too many skeletons that could hurt her, he pushes her away, even after she
saves his life.
Will there ever be a happily ever after for Carlie and
Carson or will Carson's past keep them apart forever?
I'm a huge fan of Diana Palmer (as my bookcases can attest
to)! I love there almost pure stories and their adaptation on real life. I live
the way they suck me into a world where men are generally kind and love their
women and are even willing to let them go, if it protects them. Invincible is
all of that and more! I love the way that Carlie comes to life, when she is
battling up against Carson, but is sweet and generous when she is dealing with
Cash, Rourke or her father. I love the way that Carlie wears her heart on her
sleeve, but doesn't want to hold or stop Carson from doing whatever he wants to
do.
As in every Diana Palmer book; the writing is so beautiful,
that after I finish a book I walk around with a silly grin on my face for days.
The plot is magnificent and I honestly cannot put the book down! The characters
are gripping, thrilling, sweet and beautiful
and I absolutely love every single one of them and there can never be
enough Diana Palmer stories in the world!
I give Invincible 5 stars!
