Hell Breaks Loose

Devil's Rock #2

By: Sophie Jordan

Released: July 26th, 2016

Avon Romance

Hell hath no hunger like a man let out of a cage . . .

Shy
and awkward, First Daughter Grace Reeves has always done what she’s
told. Tired of taking orders, she escapes her security detail for a rare
moment of peace. Except her worst nightmare comes to life when a
ruthless gang of criminals abducts her. Her only choice is to place her
trust in Reid Allister, an escaped convict whose piercing gaze awakens
something deep inside her. Reid is nothing like her other captors.

He’s tougher, smarter…and one blistering look from him makes her hotter than any man ever has.

Reid
spent years plotting escape and revenge . . .years without a woman in
his bed. For this hardened felon, Grace Reeves isn’t just out of his
league—she’s from another planet, but that doesn’t stop him from wanting
her. Escaping Devil’s Rock was tough, but resisting this woman could be
the end of him. For a man with nothing to lose, protecting her . . .
claiming her as his own, becomes more necessary than his next breath.

Grace Reeves is boring and knows it! But what makes it worse is that
she is the First Daughter and just a pawn in her parents grand plans. But now
she has had enough! She finally decides to activate that tiny rebellious streak
inside of her, by climbing off of her hotel balcony, only to be kidnapped and
knocked out.

Reid Allister was convicted of a murder he didn't commit and has been
sitting in jail for the past 11 years, waiting for revenge against the man who
put his there

Otis Sullivan. But after nearly being stabbed to death, Reid found
himself laying in hospital, awaiting for his chance to escape and he finds it
when the daughter of the President is kidnapped.

Reid first stop was to his brother Zane, but he gets the surprise of
his life, when he finds out that his brother kidnapped Grace Reeves! And wow!
He is smacked in the face with how much he wants her! But he has to keep her
alive first, the man that framed him, wants her dead!

Grace is unsure what to do when Reid promises to get he away from the
kidnappers, she assumes he is going to let her go free! But when she wakes to
find herself in a cabin in the middle of nowhere, Grace is livid! But that
doesn't stop her from wanting him and when he kisses her, she knows at least on
some level he wants her too.

Now Reid and Grace are stuck between a rock and a hard place, with
wanting each other, but knowing they could never be together! And how can Reid
keep Grace alive and get his revenge against Sullivan!

I love Sophie Jordan's books and have been a fan of her work for years,
but I wasn't quite sure how a about an escaped convict and the daughter of the
President would work? But surprisingly it did!

You can't help but love Reid's character; he had faced such hardships
his whole life, with his mother, giving up everything for his little brother
and spending 11 years in prison for a crime he was the fall guy for! But I love
the fact that the author has kept his honorable side, even if he is hard
everywhere else. I also feel a comradeship with Grace; she feels out of place
in her own skin and wants to bury herself under a pile of stuffed toys and hid
from the world, like she did when she was a child. And despite their
differences between them, Reid and Grace are perfect for each other.

As I said before, the plot was unusual but gripping and once I started
I simply couldn't put it down. The writing was smooth and without plot holes,
but I wish the story continued for just a little longer….like FOREVER!

I give Hell Breaks Loose 5 stars
