Sweet Little Lies

Heartbreaker Bay #1

By: Jill Shalvis

Released: June 28th, 2016

Avon Romance

Choose the one guy you can’t have . . .

As
captain of a San Francisco Bay tour boat, Pru can handle rough seas—the
hard part is life on dry land. Pru loves her new apartment and her
neighbors; problem is, she’s in danger of stumbling into love with Mr.
Right for Anybody But Her.

Fall for him—hard . . .

Pub
owner Finn O’Riley is six-foot-plus of hard-working hottie who always
makes time for his friends. When Pru becomes one of them, she discovers
how amazing it feels to be on the receiving end of that deep green gaze.
But when a freak accident involving darts (don’t ask) leads to
shirtless first aid, things rush way past the friend zone. Fast.

And then tell him the truth.

Pru
only wants Finn to be happy; it’s what she wishes for at the historic
fountain that’s supposed to grant her heart’s desire. But wanting him
for herself is a different story—because Pru’s been keeping a secret
that could change everything. . .

Pru Harris has faced more loss and heart break in her life than anyone should have to face; she lost her parents in a car accident, that took not only their lives, but innocents too! But Pru also suffered, as she was all alone in the world. But Pru is the ultimate optimist! And as the captain of a San Francisco boat tour she is in charge of life and very much a people person; but in private, she is on a mission to right the wrongs of her parents legacy.

When his father died, Flynn O'Riley assumed the responsibility of
providing for his brother Sean. And when the community fundraiser enabled him
to buy a business, in order to support his brother; Flynn became a man of
responsibility not fun. But that all changed when Pru walked through the door
and accidentally threw a dart at him! And after 3 magical weeks together, Flynn
it felt like Pru made him whole again!

But Pru is hiding a secret and it is one that she is scared to Flynn!
But she finally get the courage to share her pain with him and Flynn devastates
her by walks away, saying that he never wants to speak to her again! But when
Flynn finally comes to his senses, is it too late?

I have never read a Jill Shalvis book before, but when my friends
couldn't stop talking about this book, I knew I had to give it a try! And
everything they said was true, and for me, I knew it was love when I read the
tag #KeepCalmAndRideAUnicorn

Pru and Flynn's love story is simply heart wrenching. Pru's struggle
with her secret goes against her nature, but those short weeks with Flynn mean
the whole world to her, as it’s the first time in her adult life that she has
felt true love. I also loved the way that Flynn became more relaxed and finally
had fun! Even when Pru hit him accidentally with a dart. The author really
managed to give you hope, that people can change and not everything is
unforgivable!

I have never read a book quite like Sweet Little Lies; the writing was
truly a brilliant surprise and the plot magnificent! And even though I
absolutely LOVED the tag lines at each chapter; for me the characters more than
the story line makes this book (if that even makes any sense!). For me the group
of Pru, Flynn, Sean, Jake, Archer, Willa, Elle and Spence become almost like
family! And I'm the nosy and annoying aunt, needing to know their stories! Pru
and Flynn's story literally brought me to big ugly tears, and I'm dying for the
next book in the series.

I give Sweet Little Lies 5 stars!
